Practitioner Immediate Life Support (PILS)
PILS Acute Care is a multidisciplinary, blended learning course designed to teach clinicians how to systematically examine undifferentiated, critically ill patients, evaluate potential causes of cardiac arrest, prevent progression to sudden cardiac death, and perform high quality cardiac arrest management if progression to arrest cannot be avoided.
Designed according to best adult education principles, the 8-hour PILS eLearning course is divided into short video and Flash based modules, complete with animations, voice over and interactive assessments, and the 4-hour face-to-face PILS Clinical Skills Workshop delivers competencies in Basic Life Support, safe defibrillation, airway management to the level of Laryngeal Mask Airway placement and trauma skills such as cervical collar and spinal log roll, and is completed by simulation-based scenario training.
